Certification #2:
Constitutional Facial Acupuncture Archetypes
2 Modules, 4-day certification
This innovative certification series examines our constitutional blueprints (archetypes) in conjunction with the 6 stages of the Shang Han Lun, to address basic behavior, personality traits, health tendencies and the quality of Shen in everyone!!
Utilizing information from ancient Chinese texts, participants will learn how to determine their dominant constitution, personal expression, complexion (Shen), archetypal physiognomy, constitutional tendencies to form wrinkles, and their potential for “healthy aging”.
Also included is a mapped-out protocol for each of the 6 zones Taiyang (back), Yangming (front), and Shaoyang (side) – for both face and body, advanced needling techniques, motor points and “ashi” points. The 3 constitutional levels, Jing (8 Extraordinary meridians), Ying (TCM points) and Wei (ashi points) will also be considered.
Module 1:
The 3 Yangs (2 days)

In general, however, this certification will only be offered in its entirety. There are no other course pre-requisites.
Module 2:
The 3 Yins (2 days)
Open to: acupuncturists, advanced students and M. D. acupuncturists who have previously completed module 1

Participants will be provided with information regarding contraindications, benefits, intake/release forms, patient pre-screening, and will be introduced to a topical Chinese herbal facial protocol utilizing formulations from our herbal company, Muse L’ Herbal USA; www.muselherbal.com.
Please note: this is an extremely constitutional approach to the facial landscape, a natural fit for physio-acupuncturists, etc.
In a live seminar, the Instructor will demonstrate the entire facial acupuncture protocol, and participants will give and receive treatments under her supervision.
Certification #3:
Constitutional Facial Acupuncture: The New Protocols
3-day certification
The protocols in this seminar are based upon those found in Ms. Wakefield’s book, Constitutional Facial Acupuncture, published by Elsevier (UK) in 2014. Please note: protocols and material not found in the book will also be introduced.
Highlights of the course:
- Treating 12 problematic areas of the facial landscape with gentle and effective acupuncture and origin/insertion muscle techniques;
- 3 levels of constitutional treatment:
- Jing: 8 Extraordinary meridians; TCM patterns, syndromes, specific emotions and types of facial imbalances;
- Ying: 12 Regular meridians and 5 phases; their syndromes, addressed through Japanese, Vietnamese, TCM, and Ms. Wakefield’s own, acupuncture treatments;
- Wei: Tendinomuscular meridians, trigger, motor and “ashi” points, for “Coat Hanger” and “Wandering Skirt” syndromes, etc.
- 3 Shen scalp points for the treatment of psychospiritual issues
- Practical specifics: benefits, contraindications, general rules, treatment timelines, short and long-term effects of treatments, etc.
- A complete topical Chinese herbal treatment protocol utilizing formulations from our herbal company, Muse L’ Herbal USA; www.muselherbal.com, and featuring natural creams, 5 Element Planetary essential oils, hydrosols, jade rollers, etc.
Ms. Wakefield will provide a demonstration of the entire treatment protocol for the participants, who will practice these techniques.
